Electrical engineering deals with the study of electricity,
electronics & electromagnetism.
Electrical
engineers analyse & evaluate electrical devices & its application
varying from simple voltmeter to complex designs. They play a major role in
production & distribution of power. In an organisation they work on
projects involving computers, robots, cell phones, SIM cards, radar & navigation
systems. They are employed in building industry & services for lighting, heating,
ventilation & wiring. They play a role in transportation & transport
networks like roads and streets, railways, pipes, aqueducts,
and power lines.
Chemical engineering deals with the study of physical
Science (physics & chemistry) & life science (microbiology &
biochemistry), applied mathematics & economics.
Chemical
engineers play a role in converting chemicals, raw materials, living cells,
microorganisms & energy into useful forms & products in large scale
industries. They produce are fuel, food, pharmaceuticals & biological (drug,
vaccine, pesticide).
Mechanical engineering is the study of physical &
material science (metals, semiconductors, ceramics and
polymers). They oversee computer aided design. They are involved in
design, production & operation of mechanical & thermal devices like
electric generators, medical equipments, new batteries, internal combustion
engines (an engine which generates motive power by the burning of
fuel), gas turbines
(convert natural gas to mechanical energy), refrigeration & air
conditioning.
Civil engineering is the study geology (physical
structure and substance of the earth), structural mechanics, building construction
and surveying.
Civil Engineers design, construct,
and maintain the physical and naturally built environment like roads,
buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and
sewage treatment.
Instrumentation engineering is the study of measurement & control
of level, pressure, temperature, humidity,flow, force & speed. They are
responsible for preparing research design & work on development &
installation of equipments, devices & systems used in manufacture.
Leather engineers study leather manufacturing. They
synthesize, produce & refine leather for making commercial goods.
Computer science engineering is the study hardware & software
integration. He studies the computer as a electronic device analysing the
electrical circuit system and software.
Computer engineers/software engineers plays a major role in developing, testing and evaluating
the software. They may help in the development of new computer games and business applications, or even in the design of
entirely new operating systems.
Information technology employs technology rather than hardware/software
development. Technicians focus on storing, retrieving, transmitting &
manipulating data & the application of computers in the world of business.
Engineering
is the application of scientific methods in solving discrete problems whereas
technology is the capability given by the practical application of knowledge.
Technology describes the product of engineering rather than the engineering
product itself.
