¢  Home Science:
Home science is the science of a home and it includes all the things that concern the person, home, family members and resources. It is the education for "better living" & making a home beautiful, through the efficient and scientific use of resources to improve human environment, family nutrition, management of resources and child development.
B.Sc. Home Science  is a professional course of three years duration. It covers the various fields of science like nutrition, health and growth measurements. B.Sc home science offers many specializations and accordingly one can choose higher education option or find employment. Some of the specializations are nutrition, clothing, family relations, home management, child development, etc.
Eligibility: 10+2 students with science are eligible.
Note : Home science is also offered as a subject in class 11th and 12th in CBSE and other boards.
B.A in Home Science is an undergraduate degree of three years duration that is offered by various universities in India.
Eligibility: 10+2 students of any stream are eligible.

Graduates of Home Science can work:
·         In textiles area and as Merchandiser or Designer
·         As Nutritionist and Dietitians in Hospitals and Food Sector
·         In hotel Industry at tourist resorts, hotels, catering facilities, restaurants.
·     Institutional catering - taking care of nutrition and diet at schools, colleges, factories, clubs, and military canteens.
·        work with food product manufacturers or in food product development.
·      Resource management- family finance and consumer studies, housing and space design, interior design and decoration, entrepreneurship and institutional management.

·         As entrepreneurs in the field of textiles, food, baking and confectionary

¢  Botany:
Bachelor of Science in Botany is an undergraduate degree course for three year’s duration. The course includes studying the various aspects of plants including the structure, growth, reproduction, metabolism, diseases, chemical properties, physiology of the plants and plant anatomy in. This is a specialized branch of biology which deals with the scientific study of plants, algae and fungi, from their basic cell structure. It includes various approaches to the scientific discoveries and also involves many practical experiences to get a real knowledge about all the theoretical concepts.

Career opportunities in public sector:
·       Aspirants with B.Sc botany can join Botanical Survey of India (BSI),National Institute of Oceanography (NIO),Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI),Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) etc. as Project , Technical, Field or Scientific Assistant.
·     It is possible for them to work in private firms like Nursery Farms, Environmental Consultancies etc. as Environmental Consultant, Nursery Manger or Greenhouse Manager.

¢  Zoology:
Zoology, also known as Animal Biology, deals with living organisms, extinct animals and their interaction with their ecosystems. The curriculum covers the form, function, and behaviour of animals and elucidates general biological principles through experiments. I

¢  Bio-Technology:
Biotechnology is the study of genetic, chemical and physical attributes of cells, tissues and organisms, and identifies industrial uses for this knowledge.

¢  Micro-biology:
Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, archaea, fungi and protozoa. This discipline includes fundamental research on the biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, ecology, evolution and clinical aspects of microorganisms, including the host response to these agents.

¢       Diet& Nutrition Management:
Dietary management, also known as “foodservice management”, is the practice of providing nutritional options for individuals and groups with diet concerns through supervision of food services. They implement meal plans established by a dietitian or nutritionist. They are responsible for supervising the work of other nutrition personnel such as cooks and dietary aides(works in food preparation).
Practitioners in dietary management, known as dietary managers, work in :

¢  Agriculture:
It is a 4 years long Undergraduate Bachelor Degree program. B.Sc. Sericulture, or silk farming, is the cultivation of silkworms to produce silk. Although there are several commercial species of silkworms, Bombyx mori (the caterpillar of the domesticated silk moth) is the most widely used and intensively studied silkworm.
The main objective of this course is to give students a thorough knowledge about the cultivation of mulberry, maintenance of the farm, seed technology, silkworm rearing and silk reeling.
